Eagles Finally Agree to Jihaad Campbell’s 4-year $14,903,574 Deal

On Wednesday, the Philadelphia Eagles and Jihaad Campbell agreed to the standard 4-year, 14,903,574 fully guaranteed deal with a fifth-year option, according to Tom Pelissero. The former Crimson Tide linebacker is still working his way back from injury and won’t expect to be participating fully in Eagles Training Camp until August. But it’s good that the Eagles were able to get the contract done before July, at the end of mandatory minicamp. Here are some thoughts on Campbell 

Contract Situation for Rookies as of Now 

Andrew Mukuba, after the Campbell signing, is the only Eagles rookie not to officially sign his deal yet. Also, after Campbell’s signing, 4 first-round picks remain unsigned, including the Bengals’ Shemar Stewart, which might turn into a long battle in the long run. As for Mukuba, I’m confident that he’ll get his deal done ASAP. 

Campbell’s Potential

Although Nick Sirianni did raise some concerns about the August timeline provided by Vic Fangio a couple of weeks ago, saying there’s no timetable for his return. He also says that the mental reps are important for him to get. When he does return from injury, he potentially can start at the ILB spot alongside Zack Baun until Nakobe Dean comes back from his injury. I think Campbell is going to be a steal for the Eagles once he sees the field, as his instincts at the linebacker spot are going to show up Day one. 

Final Thoughts

As an Eagles fan, this should be great news as almost all of the rookies are now signed, and the Eagles had perfect attendance at mandatory mini-camp, so the team is fully ready to turn the page and start the quest for a repeat in the following months. Campbell is one of those guys the Eagles hope will play a huge part in the years to come and potentially in the 2025 quest to repeat as Super Bowl Champions.
