Eagles Hit HARD with 3 New Fines from NFL from Week 1 Win

The Eagles were undisciplined with the penalties in Week 1, especially on the defensive side of the ball, with the biggest victim being Jalen Carter, who was fined a game check and served a suspension for his spitting incident on Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott before playing a single defensive snap, (who didn’t recieve any fine for the first spit). But there were three additional fines for three Philadelphia defenders for various of infractions in that game. Here’s a brief breakdown of each of those fines.

Nolan Smith’s Taunting Penalty Fine

Nolan Smith was the first recipiant of the new emphasis of the taunting penalty that was implement in before the 2025 season. Nolan Smith made a tackle behind the line of scrimmage on former Eagle now Cowboys running back Miles Sanders and did a simple flex over him and got a taunting penalty for it. He was fined $11,593 dollars for that incident on Saturday.

The Other Two Eagles Fines

Cooper DeJean was also fined $11,593 for a facemask that wasn’t called during the game but retroactively got this infraction. DeJean will clean up that technique starting Sunday, I have 100 percent faith. Jakorian Bennett had the second worst infraction behind Carter in terms of monetary value. Final Thoughts

These fines are well worth the price of admission I guess even though the Taunting penalty by Nolan Smith is SOFT, and I blame former Eagle and now the Executive Vice President of Football Operations Troy Vincent for shifting towards a more of a sportmanship. Which can be a good thing or a bad thing because it can take the fun away from the celebrations of the game. But all of the other fines and infractions that the Eagles did get in that game are the right call from the league based on the rules of the game.
