Texas A&M safety Bryce Anderson carted off the field after terrible injury

 

Texas A&M safety Bryce Anderson was carted off the field right before halftime of their game against Notre Dame. The TV replays show a headfirst attempt at a tackle on a Notre Dame receiver, Eli Raridon, and his head snapped back. 

Anderson has been at Texas A&M since 2022 and came into the game with over 110 tackles, two interceptions, and one return for a TD.  

Encouraging: Anderson gives thumbs-up sign 

As he was carted off the field, Anderson was in a neck brace. As he was carted off, his eyes were open and he gave a “thumbs up” which is an encouraging sign.  

 

Halftime: Texas A&M leads 28-24 

At the time of the injury, Texas A&M was winning 28-24 with 50 seconds left. After the injury Nortre Dame turned the ball over on downs, with a fourth down error where the ball was snapped when CJ Carr was not ready. The mistake did not cost any points as Texas A&M missed a field goal as time expired.

 

Update from NBC Sports after halftime: 

According to a report during the broadcast of the game: Anderson was spine boarded and transported via ambulance to  Level 1 trauma center two miles from the stadium as a precautionary measure. He has feeling in all his limbs, according to his coach, Mike Elko. 

Update – Texas A&M wins the game 

Marcel Reed found Nate Boerkircher in the corner of the end zone with 13 seconds left, capping a dramatic comeback that sent the Texas A&M Aggies to a stunning 41-40 victory. 

The win snapped a 13-game road losing streak for the Aggies against top-10 opponents, dating back to 2015, and dealt a crushing blow to Notre Dame’s College Football Playoff hopes in front of a stunned home crowd.
