Charlotte Hornets-Spencer Dinwiddie Agree On 1-Year Deal

Charlotte Hornets

The Charlotte Hornets agreed to a one-year contract with veteran Guard Spencer Dinwiddie on Wednesday afternoon. The exact terms of the contract are unknown at the time of publication. Dinwiddie is coming off a solid season with the Dallas Mavericks. He averaged 11 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 4.4 assists during the 2024-25 regular season. How will he fit with the Charlotte Hornets?

Charlotte Hornets Season Outlook

Charlotte is coming off a disappointing regular season. They have tried rectifying that with a busy last few days. They acquired Guard Collin Sexton. They also signed Tre Mann. The Charlotte Hornets also had a successful 2025 NBA Draft. They selected Kon Knueppel No. 4 overall and Ryan Kalkbrenner No. 34. Dinwiddie will give the team depth during the 2025-26 regular season. He will play alongside Point Guard LaMelo Ball and Brandon Miller. Even though Charlotte has made some good moves this offseason, they will remain near the bottom of the Eastern Conference.

Final Thoughts

Dinwiddie is a shrewd signing by the Charlotte Hornets. He will presumably be a reserve guard backing up Ball and Miller. The veteran guard, Dinwiddie, may see a bigger role than initially expected because Charlotte’s starting backcourt is an injury-prone tandem.
