The Baltimore Ravens have been one of the more underwhelming teams in the 2025 season. They failed to make the postseason with an 8-9 record after losing in Week 18 to the Pittsburgh Steelers. While there were a lot of discussions around his future, the Ravens have officially made their decision on coach John Harbaugh’s future. Let’s take a deeper dive into what they ultimately decided.
Baltimore Ravens Fire John Harbaugh After 18 Seasons
The Baltimore Ravens have decided to fire coach John Harbaugh after 18 seasons on Tuesday evening. He has been one of the top coaches in the 21st century as he has a 180-113 record and has a Super Bowl Championship under his belt.
A decision between either Harbaugh or quarterback Lamar Jackson seemed to be brewing after reports surfaced throughout the season. Harbaugh will now be the top coaching candidate available and could be a major force in the 2026 NFL coaching cycle.
For the Ravens, there are a lot of different options the franchise can decide to go with for their next coach. It likely will be an outside hire after a dreadful 2025 season. Harbaugh was the second-longest tenured coach in the NFL, only trailing the Pittsburgh Steelers’ coach Mike Tomlin.
Now, it will be intriguing to see where he will coach next and if he will even accept a coordinator role to join his brother, Jim, with the Los Angeles Chargers. This will be an intriguing name to look at and one of the more interesting coaching vacancies in the last handful of years.
