Cincinnati Reds Starting Pitcher Chase Burns has been at the top of his game over his last three starts. Last night against the Los Angeles Dodgers, he struck out 10. It was his third consecutive start with double-digit strikeouts. That put him in rarefied air. Dwight Gooden(5) and Hideo Nomo(4) are the only rookies since 1893 to have more consecutive outings with 10+ strikeouts.
His rookie season has not gone according to plan. He is 0-3 with a 6.26 ERA. His issue in his early starts has been consistency. Will he continue making history during his rookie season?
Chase Burns Career Summary
Burns made his MLB debut on June 24 against the New York Yankees. He was the top prospect in Cincinnati’s farm system entering the 2025 season. He has been unable to live up to those lofty expectations thus far in his career.
Final Thoughts
The next scheduled start for Burns is against the Atlanta Braves in the MLB Speedway Classic. He will get to pitch in front of what is expected to be the largest audience for a game in league history.
