Detroit Pistons Shooting Guard Malik Beasley Makes History With 300th Three-Pointer

Detroit Pistons

Detroit Pistons Shooting Guard Malik Beasley made NBA history on Saturday night against the Memphis Grizzlies. He became only the fifth player in NBA history to make 300+ three-pointers in a season.

Beasley joined an exclusive list that includes Stephen Curry, James Harden, Klay Thompson, and Anthony Edwards as the only other players to accomplish this. Curry is on the precipice of his sixth career season with 300+ made triples. Beasley is having a great season for the resurgent Detroit Pistons. He is averaging 16.9 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 1.7 assists this year. Beasley is 21st in the league in three-point percentage. Will Beasley’s three-point prowess transfer over to postseason play?

Detroit Pistons Season Summary

Detroit has been one of the NBA’s most surprising teams this season. They qualified for the Playoffs for the first time since 2018-2019. The Pistons also made NBA history as the team with the worst record the previous year to make the playoffs the next season.

Detroit’s offense has been strong. They are 11th in points scored, 13th in field goal percentage, and 17th in three-point percentage. Point Guard Cade Cunningham will end the season on an All-NBA Team. He is eighth in the league in points and fourth in assists. Center Jalen Duren has also put together a great season. He is ninth in rebounds, second in field goal percentage, and top 20 in blocks. Detroit’s defense has been mediocre. They are 14th in points allowed, eighth in field goal percentage, and 18th in opposing three-point percentage.

Final Thoughts

Detroit will be battling with the Milwaukee Bucks in the final week of the regular season. The Pistons are only 0.5 GB of Milwaukee for the No. 5 seed. Fortunately for the Detroit Pistons, they finish their season with back-to-back games against the Bucks. After a great regular season, the Pistons control their destiny.
