April 7, 1963-Jack Nicklaus Wins His First Masters

Jack Nicklaus’ victory at the 1963 Masters Tournament marked the start of his dominance at Augusta National. At just 23 years old, he became the youngest champion in tournament history. A record later broken by Tiger Woods in 1997. This was his second Major Championship having won the U.S. Open in 1962.

Nicklaus edged out Tony Lema and Sam Snead by one stroke demonstrating his poise under pressure. What made this win impressive was not just his power but also his sharp short game and mental toughness. This event truly initiated his legacy at the Masters. He would eventually win six green jackets (a record that still stands).

April 7, 1977-The Toronto Blue Jays Play Their First MLB Game

​On April 7, 1977, the Toronto Blue Jays played their inaugural game against the Chicago White Sox at Exhibition Stadium in Toronto. Despite freezing temperatures, 44,649 fans attended this historic event. The game started after clearing the field with a borrowed Zamboni. Doug Ault hit the first home run in Blue Jays history in the first inning followed by another in the third, leading to a 9–5 victory. Fans famously chanted “We want beer!” due to the stadium’s no-alcohol policy. This victory marked the start of the Blue Jays’ journey in Major League Baseball.

April 7, 2003-The Syracuse Orange Win Their First NCAA Title

On April 7, 2003, the Syracuse Orange won their first-ever NCAA men’s basketball title by defeating the Kansas Jayhawks 81–78 in a thrilling championship game at the Louisiana Superdome. Freshman star Carmelo Anthony led the way with 20 points, 10 rebounds, and 7 assists, while Gerry McNamara hit 6 first-half three-pointers to give Syracuse a strong lead.

Kansas made a late push but missed 16 free throws, and Hakim Warrack sealed the win with a game-saving block in the final seconds. The victory gave Jim Boeheim his long-awaited title and cemented that 2003 squad as legendary in Syracuse history.

April 7, 2018-The Vegas Golden Knights Finish Their First NHL Season

The Vegas Golden Knights suffered a 7-1 defeat at Calgary but finished with an NHL expansion team record 51 victories. The previous record was 33 by the Anaheim Ducks and Florida Panthers in 1993-94
