The Charlotte Hornets stayed in the Top 4 after a chaotic Draft Lottery once again in 2025, with three of the top 4 teams being outside the top four before the night began. Charlotte landed the 4th overall pick on Monday Night. They could use so much in this draft, but the 4th Pick there is a player in mind that fits their needs to a tee. As they need a defender at the guard spot opposite LaMelo Ball, there is an exciting prospect from Baylor that fits this to a tee. With the preliminaries out of the way, let’s talk about the Hornets Draft Lottery.
Charlotte Hornets Need
Charlotte needs a guard who can defend to be the complement to LaMelo Ball, which should take some weight off LaMelo, which should keep this Ball brother healthy, hopefully. He is one of those players who has a weakness on the defensive end of the floor. The Hornets will look to address this in the draft, and the perfect prospect is there from the University of Baylor. Here’s a look at that prospect.
VJ Edgecombe is the Perfect Prospect for the Hornets
Baylor guard VJ Edgecombe is that high-ceiling combo guard that already has the defense that Charlotte is looking for from this draft. He is the easy pick at Pick No. 4 for the Hornets, and if they don’t make this pick, they would be making a huge mistake, I feel. Edgecombe would complete that core to the point they might be a fun League Pass team to watch in the 2025-26 season.
Final Thoughts
Charlotte is in a great spot in this upcoming draft and would be considered a small winner after the happenings of some of the other teams around them that were Top 4 before the night began. The Hornets are going to probably draft VJ Edgecombe and bring some defense back to the Hornets on the perimeter in 2025-26.
