In the Philadelphia Eagles’ OTAs thus far, there have been several developments to come from these last few days, but one of them is interesting to Quinyonimo Bay fans in particular. Eagles cornerback Quinyon Mitchell is practicing reps on both sides of the formation to start these OTAs, which will most likely mean that he could be traveling with the opposing team’s top option on the outside a lot of the time.
Which will create box office WR vs CB matchups a lot of the time in the 2025 season. This is a fun development for a guy like me who is obsessed with WR vs CB matchups that the Eagles will have, and now my mind is going to be at ease a little bit if Mitchell is traveling with WR1s. Here’s some more context for this story.
Mitchell’s Thoughts on the Reps he’s been getting
During a Press Conference with the media during the OTA drills, Mitchell shared some quick thoughts on why he has been working on both sides of the formation so far in the 2025 OTAs. “Just getting my feet wet on both sides,” Mitchell said. Quinyon Mitchell is media savvy so far in his young career to not let things slip out and keep things short and sweet like this quote provides, but this is a sign of potentially things to come in 2025 for the former Toledo Rocket.
The fact that this has been released now is allowing us fans to speculate on the potential of him shadowing WR1s, like this tweet from popular Eagles youtuber PhillyMike of the Philly Talk Podcast laid out in response to the news. Shout out to him and his content, by the way, really good coverage of Philadelphia Eagles football.
Final Thoughts
The Eagles are being smart about their cornerback room in 2025, especially with how they are handling their stud first-round Rookie from 2024 in the OTAs thus far, enhancing his development to the next level like it’s supposed to be. This development should elevate his fantasy chances a little bit in 2025 as well. I love this move from Vic Fangio and Christian Parker to start the 2025 OTA season with Mitchell.
