The Washington Mystics’ Rookie Duo of Sonia Citron and Kiki Iriafen keeps on making the GM look really good with the three first-round picks in the 2025 WNBA Draft. Citron led the Mystics with 28 points while Iriafen added 22 points, 10 rebounds, four assists, and two steals. This performance for both of them makes them the second pair of teammates 21 or younger to each score 20 points in the same game. Here’s a deeper dive into this game for the Mystics rookies in this game.
The Elite Performance of these Mystics Rookies
Citron shot 10-15 from the floor, 5-6 from deep in this game, as she was the pure scorer that Washington wanted her to become, as she continues to push Paige Bueckers for the Rookie of the Year crown with her performance throughout the season thus far. Meanwhile, for Iriafen, she shot 8-14 in the game with 6-8 from the charity stripe in this game.
It just makes me even more eager to see the third first-round selection of this Mystics’ 2025 Rookie class in the AMAZING Georgia Amoore when she comes back from her torn ACL injury she suffered in Training Camp. Because Amoore will make the lives of Citron and Iriafen a lot easier, along with the rest of the Mystics, moving forward once she comes back in 2026. Meanwhile, for the rest of the 2025 season, expect these two rookies to keep impressing the W and shocking people, and maybe stealing some of the spotlight and bringing it to the NATION’S CAPITAL along with the DMV.
Closing Thoughts
This Historic Performance for these Mystics Rookies is one of those that will go in the memory bank for Mystics fans everywhere for a long time, especially after the dominant win over the Chicago Sky led by Angel Reese and Kamilla Cardoso. The WNBA is growing because players like Citron and Iriafen are playing well, even though not many people are paying attention at that moment in time. If these two keep playing like this, they will be amongst the stars of the game, and the Mystics maybe will be back in title contention sooner than expected. We shall see?
