PSG Gives Critical Ousmane Dembele Injury Update Ahead Of UCL Clash

Ousmane Dembele

Ousmane Dembele made headlines around the world after giving PSG the important lead in the first leg of the Champions League last four. However, he got injured in the second half and was eventually substituted. Arsenal and PSG are tightly poised for the second leg of the UEFA Champions League semifinal, and the difference maker of the first leg might have something more to influence the tie.

Now, the news coming out of the PSG camp is that Dembele is set to be fit for the second leg. The Frenchman is unlikely to feature in the upcoming Ligue 1 clash against Strasbourg. PSG Manager Luis Enrique would be desperate to make his difference-maker fit and ready for the second leg of the Champions League clash.

What Is the News On Ousmane Dembele?

Arsenal fans will be chewing their nails when they hear that Ousmane Dembele is very likely to feature in the second leg of their UEFA Champions League semifinal. Despite the injury setback in the first leg, the club released a statement that the recovery is progressing well. With his availability for the Arsenal clash, Enrique and PSG can flex their attacking options in the home leg.

According to the recent update from Fabrice Hawkins, Dembele was absent from PSG’s midweek training sessions for the upcoming match against Strasbourg. Hence, the former Barcelona man won’t feature in the upcoming Ligue 1 fixture. As there were no enhanced reports on the hamstring issue, there were doubts whether he will be fit for the Champions League second leg.

Now, PSG has officially released a statement on Dembele’s condition as they look to reach their second Champions League final in history. It said: “Ousmane Dembele has strained his right hamstring. His condition is progressing well. A further assessment will be carried out shortly.”

Injury Concerns Overall

Although Dembele’s involvement in the second leg is almost confirmed, it is unknown how many minutes he will have in his legs for Luis Enrique. There are reports that Dembele could come on in the second half of the game if PSG chases the result.

On the other hand, Arsenal have plenty of injury issues of their own. Kai Havertz, Gabriel Jesus, Riccardo Calafiori, and Jorginho are all out of action for the Gunners. However, Thomas Partey will return to action after he completed his suspension in the first leg of the Champions League semifinal.
