Seattle Mariners Sign Cal Raleigh To 6-Year Contract Extension

Seattle Mariners

The Seattle Mariners signed Catcher Cal Raleigh to a six-year $105 million contract extension Tuesday afternoon. The contract includes a $10 million signing bonus and takes him through the 2030 season and a player option for 2031.

Raleigh is coming off the best season of his career in 2024. He hit .220 with 34 home runs and 100 RBI. He also won the first Gold Glove and Platinum Glove of his career and finished 12th in American League MVP voting. Will Raleigh be able to be a franchise cornerstone for the Seattle Mariners for years to come?

Seattle Mariners Season Outlook

Seattle missed the MLB Playoffs in 2024 following a disappointing season. The team followed up a disappointing season by doing nothing in the MLB Offseason. Veteran Justin Turner sounded off on the team’s lack of moves this fall.

The Mariners had the best starting rotations in the league in 2024 and will look for that to be the strength of their team again in 2025. Seattle’s issue in 2024 was their offense. That unit will be led by Raliegh, Left Fielder Randy Arozarena, and Center Fielder Julio Rodriguez.

Final Thoughts

Raleigh, 28, is one of the best catchers in the league. He will look to continue succeeding with the Seattle Mariners. Seattle will be a playoff contender this season, but their lack of offseason moves will come back and haunt them.
