Philadelphia Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni agreed to a new multi-year extension on Monday, as it was announced by the team on its social media. Sirianni has earned this deal through his successful stint with four straight playoff appearances, two Super Bowl appearances, and a Lombardi Trophy during his tenure so far. The Eagles and Sirianni are now committed to each other for the foreseeable future, and this is a smart decision for both coach and franchise as a whole. Here are more thoughts on the decision to extend him overall.
Sirianni’s Culture: The Biggest Part
Philadelphia Eagles Chairman and CEO Jeffery Lurie had the following statement announcing Coach Sirianni’s Extension. Here’s the statement through the Eagles’ tweet announcing the extension earlier on Monday.
Every word of that statement from Lurie has reinforced the head coach’s impact on this team, especially after his Flower speech in 2021. Ever since that “Flower Speech,” the Eagles have been one of the most successful teams in the League, and that’s when everything started to click for him and the rest of the Philadelphia Eagles to be the team that they’ve been over that time.
Sirianni getting this extension, especially after the Super Bowl, marks that the Eagles are rewarding him for the long-sustained success after these last four years in Philadelphia. He deserves the contract that he has gotten now and will look to continue his success in 2025 with the quest to repeat as Super Bowl Champions.
Final Thoughts
Howie Roseman has accrued a lot of talented players on this roster for Sirianni to implement into his schemes, and the Vic Fangio defensive coordinator hire truly unlocked this team’s potential on the defensive side in 2024 after a historic collapse in 2023. But Sirianni has proven to be an outstanding head coach after people have doubted him over the last few years.
