In the marquee game of the NBA Cup semifinals in Las Vegas, the San Antonio Spurs fought off the juggernaut Oklahoma City Thunder to reach the NBA Cup final, and hand OKC their second loss of the season in the process.

Wembanyama Scores 22 In Return To Power Spurs To Cup Final

After missing a month due to a calf injury, Spurs superstar Victor Wembanyama put on a masterful fourth-quarter performance in his long-awaited return. The French phenom dropped 15 of his 22 points in the penultimate period, as Wembanyama provided a huge spark coming off the bench for San Antonio.

Spurs’ New Big Three Starting To Take Shape

While Wembanyama rightly took up all the headlines following his fourth-quarter brilliance, both Spurs guards, De’Aaron Fox and Stephon Castle, put up impressive performances as well. Both Fox and Castle added 22 points each to help boost the team across the finish line in the win.

Thunder Move to 24-2 With Loss

Coming into the game, many people expected the Thunder to add another win to their already historic start to the season. The Thunder’s 24-1 start to the season tied them with the 73-win Golden State Warriors for the best 25-game start in NBA history. The loss tonight also snapped a 16-game win streak for the Thunder.

SGA Continues Adding To MVP Resume Despite the Loss

While the Thunder may have to wait a bit before adding their 25th win of the season, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander did all he could to try to help secure an NBA Cup final berth. The reigning league MVP dropped an efficient 29 points to go along with 4 rebounds and 5 assists in the loss.

Spurs Players Set To See a Nice Bonus With NBA Cup Final Appearance

Whether the Spurs win or lose on Tuesday in the NBA Cup final, players can expect to see a little bit more cash in their wallets regardless of the result. The win tonight guarantees that each player will walk away with a $212,000 bonus, with the potential of taking home $530,000 if the Spurs win the NBA Cup Tuesday night.

Spurs To Face Off Against Knicks In NBA Cup Final

With a matchup between the high-scoring New York Knicks and the defensive-oriented San Antonio Spurs, basketball fans couldn’t have asked for a better NBA Cup final. The New York Knicks come in fresh off a 132-120 win against the Orlando Magic, led by their star-studded duo of Jalen Brunson and Karl-Anthony Towns.

The current line for the NBA Cup final gives the Knicks a 3.5-point edge. However, if the Spurs have proven anything, especially after upsetting the highly touted Thunder, it’s that as long as you have Wembanyama, you’ve got a chance.
