The Tampa Bay Rays defeated the Houston Astros 8-4 at home Wednesday afternoon. Their win was led by Right Fielder Josh Lowe and Second Baseman Brandon Lowe. They made history as only the second pair of left-handed batters with the same last name to hit back-to-back home runs in league history. They joined Ken Griffey Jr. and Ken Griffey Sr.
Josh Lowe is hitting .286 this season with 2 home runs and 3 RBI. Brandon Lowe is hitting .224 with 8 home runs and 25 RBI. Will the Lowe duo help the Tampa Bay Rays get their season back on track?
Tampa Bay Rays Season Summary
https://twitter.com/OptaSTATS/status/1925276947644399926
It has been a mediocre start to the season for Tampa Bay. They are in fourth place in the American League East with a 23-26 record. Their offense has struggled. They are 20th in batting average, 23rd in home runs, and 21st in runs scored. First Baseman Jonathan Arnada is 15th in the league in batting average and 22nd in OPS.
Tampa Bay’s pitching staff has been mediocre. They are 15th in ERA, 10th in WHIP, and 17th in opposing batting average. No Rays pitcher has stood out during the 2025 campaign. With a middling offense and pitching staff, it is no surprise that the Tampa Bay Rays are a mediocre ballclub.
Final Thoughts
The Rays have a day off on Thursday before welcoming the Toronto Blue Jays to town for a three-game set beginning Friday. If the Lowe duo can continue hitting the ball like they did today, the Tampa Bay Rays can begin climbing up the standings.
