Aston Villa has received wide recognition for their stellar performances in the English Premier League for the month of September, as manager Unai Emery, forwards Ollie Watkins, Jhon Duran, and goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez are all in line for the English Premier League’s monthly awards.

Unai Emery Nominated for Manager of the Month

Aston Villa’s head coach Unai Emery is among five nominees for the EPL Manager of the Month award for September. He is up against Enzo Maresca (Chelsea), Mikel Arteta (Arsenal), Marco Silva (Fulham) and Arne Slot (Liverpool). Under Emery, Villa went unbeaten in three matches, securing two wins and a draw. They scored eight goals and conceded five. Emery has won this accolade twice before, in April and December 2023.

Aston Villa’s standout performances include dramatic comeback wins. They overcame a 2-0 deficit against Everton to win 3-2 and staged another turnaround with a 3-1 win over Wolves after trailing at halftime. Their 2-2 draw against Ipswich Town rounded off an impressive month that placed them fifth in the table, just two points shy of the top spot.

Ollie Watkins Nominated for Player of the Month

Aston Villa’s in-form striker Ollie Watkins has been shortlisted for the Player of the Month award. Watkins faces competition from Cole Palmer (Chelsea), Harvey Barnes (Newcastle United), Luis Diaz (Liverpool), Gabriel (Arsenal), Ryan Gravenberch (Liverpool), Raul Jimenez (Fulham), and Dwight McNeil (Everton). Watkins had five goal involvements in September, scoring and assisting in all three of Villa’s matches. He netted twice in the comeback victory over Everton and contributed with a goal and assist in the 2-2 draw at Ipswich Town.

Erling Haaland (Manchester City) won the award in August.

Haaland’s blistering start to the season earned him the award after he scored an unprecedented seven goals in his first three Premier League appearances! The Norwegian striker made history by netting successive hat-tricks against Ipswich Town and West Ham United, followed by a crucial goal at Chelsea, helping Manchester City achieve a perfect start to the campaign with three wins on the trot.

Jhon Duran Nominated for Goal of the Month

Aston Villa forward Jhon Duran‘s spectacular goal against Everton has been shortlisted for the Goal of the Month award. He is up against Cole Palmer (Chelsea), Harvey Barnes (Newcastle), Bryan Mbeumo (Brentford), Darwin Nunez (Liverpool), Riccardo Calafiori (Arsenal), Dwight McNeil (Everton), and James Justin (Leicester City). Duran’s goal was a crucial part of Villa’s thrilling 3-2 victory over Everton.

Cole Palmer’s lob against Wolves was voted the Goal of the Month in August.

Emiliano Martinez Nominated for Save of the Month

Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez has been recognized for his heroic save in the 2-2 draw with Ipswich, earning him a nomination for Save of the Month. Other goalkeepers vying for the award include Arijanet Muric (Ipswich), Nick Pope (Newcastle), Guglielmo Vicario (Spurs), Andre Onana (Manchester United), and Mads Hermansen (Leicester City).

David Raya (Arsenal) won the Save of the Month award in August for his incredible stop to deny Ollie Watkins in Arsenal’s 2:0 win over against Aston Villa.
