The undefeated San Antonio Spurs hold a 4-0 record entering Thursday’s home game against the Miami Heat, but this isn’t the only news headline that you need to know about the Spurs. The Spurs have yet to see Victor Wembanyama’s best skill. Read on for further details surrounding the Spurs and Wembanyama, 21.

San Antonio Spurs Haven’t Seen Victor Wembayama’s Best Skill

The San Antonio Spurs are rocking and rolling as one of the few undefeated teams in the NBA. Through four games, you could argue that the Le Chesnay, France native is the best player in the league — and the world.

Wembanyama is currently averaging 33.3 points, 13.3 rebounds, and 2.3 assists, as well as 56.9% from the field. He has been posting career-highs across the board with averages of 31 points, 13.8 rebounds, and 4.8 blocks in the last four games alone.

Wembanyama’s Potential Success

Most of the NBA world expects the Spurs to be back to reality. But, for now, this is the Spurs’ world, and we’re witnessing it before our eyes.

There’s a catch, though. The Spurs haven’t seen the French center at his best. He’s arguably the best defender and scorer in the NBA as he plays bully ball, the basketball strategy that involves using brute force and physicality to create scoring opportunities, for the first time in his professional basketball career.

Wembanyama has amazed the public in each of his first two seasons. However, San Antonio is lacking in terms of losing records. He has yet to make a postseason appearance as a San Antonio Spur. But if his play continues to sustain, San Antonio’s playoff chances would look good for the first time since 2019.

The French sensation can start by playing for deeper reasons than winning regular-season games. If this happens, he can get to another level. It’s possible as he led the French national basketball team to a gold medal in 2024. He averaged 15.8 points, 9.7 rebounds, and 3.3 assists in the gold medal game against the United States.

Final Thoughts

The Metropolitans 92 alum can be a force on the court. He has been growing into his body. Even if the San Antonio Spurs can’t make a deep playoff run, they’d still put the former first overall pick in a position to find postseason success.

His international track record implies he can rise to the occasion. As a result, his namesake record can help the Spurs become a rather scary team in the playoffs.
