The Belgian spoke ahead of their Tuesday Champions League fixture against Dynamo Zagreb at the Allianz Arena. He spoke about how it’s crucial to have a clear vision and philosophy, which is very important for the team’s progress. Kompany continued how it is crucial to communicate the visions very well so that the team can understand and deliver them to their best form.
He said “It’s probably the most important thing: to have clarity. You communicate it every day – clarity is not just tactical, it’s just clarity of who you are as a team, and who you are as a group. The rest, I think you communicate in different ways. Sometimes it’s on a video screen or the pitch, but it’s also your body language, it’s the feeling.”
Kompany on his Aim for the Team
The Former Manchester City legend spoke about his aim for the club, and what the Club ought to achieve. He was specific about wanting Bayern Munich to be a club worth fearing. Kompany wants the team to achieve great results.
He said: “If you play against Bayern, it has to represent an almost impossible mission. I’m not saying it’s going to happen straight away, I’m not saying that’s where we are right now, but when I played against the very best Bayern teams, they could give you that feeling. It’s not like this every year, but some teams have given you that feeling and that’s what you remember. For us, it’s the goal to come back as quickly as possible to give that feeling to many opponents.”
Kompany on the Champions League
The Belgian continued to address how the team is aiming for their league and Champions League. However he admits the Champions League can be very difficult, but he believes they can have a shot at it.
He said: “The aims are very simple. You always want the highest level. For us, whenever we speak about any game or any trophy, it’s always about trying to win the competition, and the Champions League is the most difficult one. With the teams who have won it in recent years, there are a few who will aim for the same, but it’s a special venue for the final and there is a special feeling here about the Champions League.”
