Cole Anthony-Memphis Grizzlies Agree To Contract Buyout

Cole Anthony

Cole Anthony and the Memphis Grizzlies have agreed to a contract buyout. Anthony, 25, played in a point guard role for the Orlando Magic from 2020 to 2025. The Grizzlies selected Anthony with the 15th overall pick in the first round of the 2020 NBA Draft out of North Carolina.

Cole Anthony-Memphis Grizzlies Agreement

Cole Anthony and the Memphis Grizzlies agreed to a contract buyout. Anthony reportedly plans to sign with the Milwaukee Bucks after he clears waivers, sources told ESPN. The Grizzlies finalized the contract buyout with Jeff Schwartz and Javon Phillips of Excel Sports for Anthony’s new opportunity, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania.

Anthony’s Stint With Memphis

Cole Anthony’s one-year stint with the Memphis Grizzlies saw an uber-athletic and ultra-confident point guard. Anthony averaged 9.4 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 2.9 assists per game, and shot 42.4% from the field goal line. Anthony’s postseason averages include 2.2 points, 1.4 rebounds, and 1.2 assists per game, and 28.6% shooting from the field. Anthony’s career averages include 12.5 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 3.8 assists per game, and 41.9% from the field. These numbers incorporate Anthony’s five-year tenure with the Orlando Magic.

Final Thoughts

Cole Anthony can help fill in the Milwaukee Bucks’ point guard need. The Bucks waived Damian Lillard following a torn left Achilles tendon this past season. The Bucks’ other point guard signings include Kevin Porter Jr. and Ryan Rollins this offseason. Anthony has proven he can be a reliable scoring option at point guard off the bench.
